Oh, no, I'm at it again.  I think it's spelled "Mabry", not "Marby".  You wouldn't want your name spelled wrong, would you?

As soon as I saw Scott was on the board I knew we would get the answer.

Scott is very close to the bitter truth.
Dave used Bob's water jackets on both the open bike and the liner.
Leo Hess rode the same "Chopper" to the top speed ever for a "Push Rod Bike" at El Mirage in 84 at 215.063 for a record that still stands.
It is kinda like the Old Eagle that ate the young Rooster.
Mostly feathers and not much meat.

stayt`ie,
I think you answered your own question, the "target is the current record.

You can make a brick do mach2 if you give it enough horsepower (F4).
Good luck with your project.

Stainless, the new kids will not know a F-4 was a fast aircraft  A GS1150 should be a good motor, lots of old drag race part are available.

How about fastest single-engine sit-on bikes with no blower or turbo?  I think it's Dan Kinsey at 226.148, and Dave Matson at 225.643, both 2000 cc class, but I believe Dave's motor wasn't even close to that size, there was no 1650 class back then.  I asked Dan at the first BUB meet what the actual size was of his motor, and he said just under 2000.  Now that Dave has built a bigger motor, I sure would like to see him get a couple good passes in, and see what kind of number he racks up.

The real "old school" target is Charlie Toy.

Charlie went over 238 MPH, riding about 1000 cc's of what was essentially
1970's Kawasaki Z1 technology.  He did this using a simple turbo setup having
an air-cooled motor, an "over-the-top" exhaust system in the drag-race style
of late in the last century.

The "old school" turbo blew directly into an intake manifold
that had more right angle turns than a monopoly board.

NO intercooler.

Bonneville track gasoline was metered through a draw-through carburator for an elderly Harley Davidson.

Careful use of eBay (or Jack Dolan's garage) could probably allow a duplicate of this bike for less than a $5,000 parts budget.

238 MPH for $5,000 is not a bad deal.
my hero. :D

Charlie, that also lives in PHX had all the same HI Tech that Norris sported at the drags.
Norris ran an S+S with NOS though.
How else are you going to get somebody that big to go that fast ?
You guys are enough people to make a gang.
