Yes to all the above -- but I'm still seeing 28-29 cowl pieces, especially in the first shot.

Hey don't bad mouth 2 wheel trailers....I used one until 1982. My roadster towed best on it never knew it was there... No springs and 1957 Buick hubs machined flat and welded to a plate. Paid $100 for it..............................................JD

This is great stuff. Thanks to all. My first year was 02 so nothing to contribute. I have often wondered at the trailers and half ton pickups overloaded and pulling the race car. The trip must have been a real adventure in those days. Thirty to forty mph would add some travel time. Leaving home with 26 dollars in your pocket! Today one fuel stop costs at least a 100. Great stuff and thanks all.  Vince

Yes, I really enjoy hearing the old stories and seeing the old cars.  It's amazing how much has changed - and how much has stayed exactly the same.  Here is a shot of a nice streamliner.

Does anyone know who owned this spectators hot rod phaeton ? I took the photo between 62 and 64, I thought the car had Utah plates, but since moving to Utah, I have never found a local street rodder who remebered the car. I have been looking to ID the owner for fifty years and any help would be appreciated. Maybe it wasn't a Utah rodder ?

I don't know about this 30 or 40 mph stuff but I saw a video from the mid 80's, David Carroll driving coming down the grade
into wendover from Ely with the speedo on 90  :-) and I've heard stories of a 40 ford panel truck  with a blown Olds towing a lakester that would make that seem tame :-o

Tom Medlock, recently retired from Specialty Cars and I stopped by the salt on our graduation trip around the west in 1962, ran into some fellows I had met at Five Points Self Serve in Norwalk, Cal, where I worked, and were taken in as their go-fers for the rest of the week. The C/Gas Roadster belonged to Jack Stewart and Jim Seabridge and their kindness to a couple of teenagers influenced our lives greatly.

WE miss you Jack and Jim, whereever you are, I hope all is well............

Do El Mirage images belong here ?  Bruce G's infamous Stude in the late sixties, early seventies.

Here is a memory from the camera of Mel Ellis who raced a 36hp VW bug to 94.40 mph in 1962. The Firestone Tire tent provided free tire swaps all week long so racers could try different tire diameters.
