All these great pictures and info got me goin. Spoke with Warner the other day and pulled a little more history out of him. The picture on page 9 by the honorable Mr.Stainless of the Tramp II has George Smith on the left, Dan Kinsey on the right and possably Floyd Baker in center-RIP- Shortly after that the bike with a new fairing did 226 and 239 on a one way, and broke Warner's record in 1992.
The picture on page 15 by the venerable Dr. Freud of the 3 Harleys - Leo Paynes ran fuel w/ Stock Chassis - Cook ran fuel w/ Altered Frame -
and Warner's ran gas w/ Stock Frame. The cool thing was all three set records that year.
Great thread - thanks for keeping it going. Being a Midwest Chicago teenager back in the early 60's the closest we'd ever get to Bonneville is reading and seeing pictures in the Hot Rod mags. I had a paper route and sold icecream out of one of those bicycle icecream carts so I had a few sheckles in my pocket to be able to buy the mags, and oh yes the plastic model car kits which I'd cut up and combine parts of different kits and fantasize about hot roddin. Then came the drivers license - oh the rest is history -
