Current and near-term weather at Bonneville

Based on forecasts only, it looks like some rain may be happening
today (9/27/14), and may continue, on-and-off, through 9/29/14. 

After that, lots of sunshine without rain is predicted through 10/10/14.

I don't know how much water is on the salt right now.  Is there anybody
there -- or near there -- who can give us updates based on actual
observation/photos?  If so, thanks in advance.

Here's hoping for some good conditions for the Shootout, which has
been re-scheduled for 10/5/14 to 10/10/14.

On the channel 2 news out of Salt Lake City yesterday at suppertime they said 1.31 inches of rain at Wendover since midnight.  I'm 250 miles Southeast and it was pretty wet all day. Wayno

I'm about 100 miles down wind from the salt & we've had solid rain for 48hrs. Probably shouldn't hold your breath on this one Mate.

I know it's been raining a bit at Bville, but I just found this statement on the "Hazardous Weather outlook" portion of the NOAA weather site:

"WAVES OF UP TO 10 FEET ARE POSSIBLE TODAY ALONG THE SHORELINE OF THE SALT FLATS. SOME MINOR BEACH EROSION IS POSSIBLE...ESPECIALLY ALONG THE
TOOELE COUNTY SHORELINES."

Glad we're not out there trying to race.

close to Tooele the lake is directly on the interstate for a couple of miles....depends from where the wind comes it can be very wet....

At least the ships from overseas will be used to high seas and salty water.  Great Lakes sailors refer to such boats as "salties".   Their crews are usually non-English speakers - or so I infer from hearing them chatting and shouting as they and their ships passed through the Soo Locks up here.  I wonder how they get along in northwestern Utah?

The harbor is well protected by a tall breakwater. When the conditions get like that, the windsurfer's seem to come out of the woodwork.
